Graphitic Corrosion

Graphitic corrosion is a type of corrosion that occurs in cast iron when it is exposed to salt water or weak acids. This type of corrosion selectively attacks the iron in the cast iron, leaving behind the graphite. The result is a soft, weak material with no significant loss of weight.
